IFM Insurance Brokers Ltd has clocked up a mega £75k sum by backing Neurocare’s annual flagship golf day for three years in a row.
Alister Smith, a director at the firm, has seen first hand how charity funds can enhance the care for patients with neurological conditions, after his mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago.
Alister said: “We have supported the Neurocare Golf Day at Hallamshire Golf Club since it first started in 2006, and so when we heard they were looking for a new lead sponsor three years ago, we had no hesitation in stepping up to the plate.
“Neurocare is a fantastic charity. When my mother was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour in 2016 I witnessed first hand the amazing work that these people do. I will be forever grateful to them for their part in making the last few months I shared with my mum more bearable.
“So far we have raised in excess of £75,000, which has been put towards many neurological ground breaking initiatives. We are hopeful of pushing that figure through the £100,000 barrier in 2019.
“Next year’s golf day is to be held on Friday 7th June 2019. It is a very popular day and early booking is recommended!”
Beth Porter, fundraiser at Neurocare, said: “We can’t thank IFM enough for their ongoing support. Thanks to their hard work, they’ve raised a huge figure which has already changed the lives of so many people who have been affected by brain injury and disease.
“We’re looking forward to working with them on our next golf day, and hopefully many more in years to come.”
